Q: 2006 Kia Spectra, Here to plug in Diagnostic Computer?
My check engine light came on. Everything is still uner warranty, but the nearest Kia dealership is 15 miles away in another town. A coworker is going to bring in a diagnostic computer. Does anyone know where we would plug it in? I'm assuming it's somewhere underneath the dashboard. I'm just not sure of the location. I could always just take it to Autozone and have them check it for free, but I'd rather just do it here in the parking lot.
A: most are by your left knee while you sit in drivers seat...a few are under glovebox...very few
Q: 2006 Kia spectra with negative equity?
I have a problem. I still own over 12,000 on this car that is worth about half of that. I would love to get rid of it but I don't know how to sell a car for less then I owe without having the title. Any suggestions?
A: In order to obtain the title, you must pay the lender in full. So, even if you did find someone willing to purchase your car for $12K (very highly unlikely), you'd have to pay off the loan before you could request the title.
Don't try to sell the car for less than what you owe. You will have to come up with the cash difference in order to satisfy the note. If the buyer tried to register the car in their name, they couldn't do it. Then, a whole world of trouble ensues upon you.
Honestly? Keep paying on it, try to double-up as often as you can. There is no easy way to get rid of negative equity. Millions of Americans are in your shoes right now due to the economic crunch that the car business is feeling. Resale values are dropping like crazy, and it's affecting everyone.
Q: Tire for a 2006 Kia Spectra?
Girlfriend got a flat tire this morning. She drives a 2006 Kia Spectra which has 205/50 16 tires. I go put her spare on, follow her to work and take the car to a couple tire places. Evidently, 205/50 16's are hard to find. Closest I could find were 205/55 16's. I decided to go ahead and buy that one.
Obviously the difference is the sidewall aspect ratio. Doing a couple quick calculations, this means that the correct size tires section height is 4.04 The tire I chose to put on has a tire section height of 4.44 Anybody out there know if the additional 4/10's of an inch is going to make a big difference. I did have them put the new tire on the rear, not sure if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your help.
A: If the KIA has ABS and/or traction control, the difference in size may confuse the control unit(s).
The handling of the car will also be affected somewhat ( maybe not something you'd notice during day-to-day driving but the difference could become noticeable during extreme manoeuvres or an emergency situation ).
I know this is a too-little, too-late situation but I would have continued to drive on the spare until the correct size tire could be located.
Q: Is there a turbo kit available for a 2006 Kia Spectra SX?
A: I guess you could do a custom job. But it's a Kia. You'll spend thousands on this project, and at the end you'll still have a Kia.l
Q: Should I get a 2006 Kia Spectra ?
I just wanted to know how reliable are kias because i have never driven one
A: just about any newer car can be considered reliable. The problem with kia is that they are junk, rattles, horrible handling, poor quality materials. But, if that is all you can afford then go for it.
Q: If my 2006 Kia Spectra won't start is it possible it is just the battery or can it be because it is in the 30s?
My husband said that it is possible that because I do not warm up the car that I could have killed the battery. I don't know how that is possible if I haven't drove it in 3 days.
Can cold weather cause a car not to start?
I don't know my husband went to start it this morning. And when he came back in he asked if I normally warmed up the car before I drove it and I said no except the one day when it was less than 32 degrees outside (because the windows were iced and I couldn't drive until they were defrosted but I'll go check.
There is no clicking or any sound. It does not make a sound the keychain thing won't even unlock the car, you actually have to use the key to open up the car. If anybody knows what that can be.
A: Temperatures, hot OR cold can effect your battery.
Assuming it is an "original" from the factory battery, it is probably shot.
Warming up the car has no effect on your battery. As long as your engine is running, if the Alternator is working right, your battery should charge. An original factory installed battery could very easily be crapping out on you though. I think that is your likely problem, I'd suggest you take it to Sears(or any shop you trust) and have it checked.
Additional: Batteries only last so long, depending on how they were made. ALL batteries have a "date code" telling you when it was made stamped into the battery casing. Similar, but opposite to the "experation date" on a milk carton. IF a battery has a 36 month warrenty, for instance, it is designed to last 36 months after it's date code. IF you buy a battery for your car, SAVE the receipt. YOUR "warrenty" on THAT battery is from the date on THAT receipt. THAT battery mave have been there 3 months in stock, meaning it was made 3 months earlier. By design, it may only last 33 more months, BUT the 36 month warrenty for YOU starts the day of the receipt. SO, if that battery craps-out in 33-35 1/2 months, after your receipt date, YOU may be able to get a NEW battery based on the terms stated in the "warrenty".
As to a factory installed battery, which is likely to be in your car, it is doubtful you have ANY warrenty on that battery. But WHEN you buy a new battery, you now know more than MOST people. If you want to know the date code on the battery you buy, ask them to show & explain it to you. As the consumer YOU have that Right. Historically, the "Sears Diehard" IS a top of the line battery. IF you are planning on keeping THAT car, Sears honors THAT warrenty on That battery without hestitation, especially IF THEY install it in your car. IF you are expecting to sell, or trade that car in a year, you could buy a battery with a lesser warrenty, saving you money.
Q: I'm about to buy a New car. I'm torn between KIA Spectra SX 2006 and Toyota Corolla LE 2006 Which is better?
A: Although the Toyota's are high on the list of vehicles that are stolen...........it's for a reason. The toyota is one of the most versatile vehicles on the market today. All you have to do is ask this question........ how many Kia's have you seen with 400thousand miles on them?.......NONE.....How many Toyota's have you seen with 400thousand miles on them.......i've seen quite a few.
They might be rust buckets....but mechanically you couldn't ask for a better running vehicle( foreign).........and the 4x4 trucks Toyota puts out are the same way.......many miles for the money.......my neighbor has one that had over 450 thousand miles on it before he gave it to his son to drive....a rust bucket( we live near the ocean so salt air does them in)....but it ran like a champ. Also do yourself a favor..... call your local parts store...ask the price for a kia starter..then a toyota starter....also ask for similar quotes on the alternator, breaks & other parts you'll be replacing to general maintenance....... you'll be suprised to find out how much more expensive the Kia parts are versus the Toyota parts.Good luck!
Q: KIA SPECTRA SX 2006. Any reviews? What do you think? Should I buy it? Please be detailed?
A: Kias have horrible resales value.
Example: 100k mi Optima, 3 years old, $10,000 still owed, wholesale value <$1000.
Problem is, you still owe 3 more years, and you have 1000's of dollars in repairs needed. You can't trade. You can't afford to keep driving. You can't stop paying because it'll ruin your credit, plus you could be sued for the loan contract. What do you do?
Exactly.
Kias are horrible horrible cars. They are very cheap to buy for a reason. Spend a little more money and get you a Toyota or a Honda. It's the best financial decisions you can do if you have to buy a car.
Q: can somebody tell me about kia spectra novus 2006 edition by naza kia,i heard many problem with them car?
I JUST BUY A NEW CAR
A: I have a Rio Kia, they are good reliable cars, iv had mine for about a year although I think they are very cheaply made..They are not very strong or solid cars and seem they may be easily crushed if to be in an accident..I am looking for a new car because of this.
Q: Kia Spectra mpg false advertising?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoDN0i8oN60SK3ypPqZXxGojzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20070125201957AAbU9Ql
I'm agreeing with this guy.
I baught a 2006 Kia Spectra and was told I'd get between 32-35mpg on the highway. Right now, I have a 14 gallon tank. I average at the most 380 miles on one full tank.
That comes out to be about 28mpg. I drive very carefully, not running it hard, always doing the speed limit, etc.
Has anyone else had this problem? Let's try to help quit the false advertising because many people are falling for these lies and are coming back very unsatisfied.
A: The EPA has recently changed the test procedures for figuring average fuel economy. The tests will reflect more closely the actual driving conditions of most people. This has begun on the '09 models. You may see lower mpg ratings on cars that were unchanged from the last model year.
Q: Kia warranty is a scam!!!?
I need a motor for my 2006 kia spectra. Its still under warranty but kia refuses to hold up their great warranty due to me not getting the coolant changed. The motor has a rod knocking and I dont see what the coolant has to do with that...but they are going to charge $4200 to replace parts of the motor....where can I look to find one cheaper?
kia is a division of chrysler...which is american
A: Without knowing all of the details here your case sounds worthy of some arbitration.
It should be their responsibility to show that the failure was due to lack of coolant flush. This would be rather hard to do.
Lack of engine oil would be another story.
You need to speak with a district servive manager for KIA, and politely tell him or her to fix this P.O.S.. If they refuse you should consult an attorney.
