Q: How to replace a 2005 Kia Specta's right headlight?
I have a 2005 Kia Spectra, and I noticed that the right bulb was burned out. I popped the hood and unscrewed to bolts on top. When I try to pull the headlight out, it doesn't come out. Is there another bolt that I'm missing or something more I have to do?

A: in the center of the light assembly the bulb is helled in with a plastic ring that you turn then the bulb comes out you should not have to unbolt anything here's a sight that should help http://autorepair.about.com/

Q: is a 2004 or 2005 kia spectra a good car?
i'd rather like to hear from owners or mechanics (maybe you had them come into the shop more often or less often than other cars), because they've dealt with them hands on, but consumer reports are good too

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: I have a KIA Spectra, rain came inside and there is no audio. The stereo seems to be ok and also de speakers.?
I own a KIA Spectra 2005. I left the windows open and rain came into the car during a storm. I have no audio, since then, but the stereo seems to work OK, the radio memories are still set and everything. I have opened the side pannels and the speakers seem to be OK. I also cheked the fuse and is ok. Any suggestions other than take it to the dealer?

A: is there still standing water anywhere the speaker wires or connecters might be that might be causing a short?

Q: Im looking for an alternater for a kia spectra with more power whare can i get one from for year 2005.?

A: Try www.summitracing.com....I know they have some in there. Also, they may not, but it would make sense to me if they did...try Crutchfields, the audio catalogue. btw...I'm pretty sure it's for an upgraded sounds system KM. It'll be fine.

Q: How often should I get a full tune up?
I have a 2005 Kia Spectra. It is starting to shimmy a little when I drive in higher speeds. I imagine it's alignment. But when I go in to get that checked I wanted to get a tune-up but wanted to make sure it's a good idea now. I also have 50,000 miles on it with the original back tires.

A: its good just to get a tuneup every 12 months or whenever you get it serviced, keeps the car running nice and smooth and will help on fuel consumption. and with the tires, if they're not bald, they are all good, doesnt matter about how long they've travelled for, just keep an eye that they stay in good condition

Q: Is it ok to put gas in my car when the check engine light comes on?
I have a 2005 Kia Spectra---I just got back from taking my son to school, and the 'check engine' light came on; I am very low on gas, I was going to refuel later this morning---is it going to be ok for me to fuel up before taking it to a shop?

A: On newer cars, if a check engine light comes on, always check the gas cap to make sure it is tight on the car. Most cars it's tight when you hear 3 audible clicks (for the clicking kind). It's still ok to put gas in the car; in fact, if the above is your problem, you might kill 2 birds with 1 stone and not have to bring it in. Go to Autozone or another place that scans your computer for free. They can tell you why the check engine light came on (if it isn't the gas cap being loose) and what possibly needs to be replaced. Even if you don't replace the stuff yourself and bring it in somewhere, at least you'll know what you are in for.

Q: Can Anyone Give Me Tips for Driving in Icy Road Conditions?
I live in San Antonio, TX and we are about to have our first major icy snow storm in about 22 years ( i was about 5 the last time it happened). I haven't had to drive in these conditions yet as the last few icy times I didn't have to go to work or school or it happened in the middle of the night. So...I just need a few pointers. BTW I drive a 2005 Kia Spectra. Yes I know that's probably already a death sentence, but any advice will help. Thanks! Oh yeah and my car is a 5-speed manual transmission. Unfortunately I am not able to just stay home. I am at work right now and get off in a few hours. I know once I'm home I'll stay there...but I just want to get home in one piece.

A: First of all don't be in a hurry. Drive slowly at a speed you feel comfortable with. Since your car has a standard transmission it will help you some because you can start off in 2nd gear rather than first to help avoid spinning the wheels. Also when slowing down to stop start slowing down a lot sooner, and slowly downshift your car but don't do it at high RPM's and too fast of a speed or you will cause the tires to break traction and you could loose control of your car.

Q: How long do Kias last?
I've got a 2005 Kia Spectra with about 45k miles on it. How much longer will it last provided I take decent care of it?

A: If you take care of it, it can last 200,000 miles. All cars, no matter what brands, can last 200,000 miles easily if they are maintained according to the owners manual, which you can but from the car dealerships if they did not come with the car. But very few people actually follow the maintenance schedule or drive the cars sanely.

Q: Should I try to get a Better Price on this used car?? I am clueless about cars?
2005 Kia Spectra 45,000 Miles (Still under factory warrenty) Mid-Trim level (most features but No cruise control) $7,995 Car Looks and Drives new its from a local car lot so I am not too worried that they are selling me a lemon because the place is a Mile away from my house and the factory warrenty. Seems like a real good deal....what do you think?

A: That's not bad for that car considering your getting a factory warranty with it also. This car books for 8750.00 high retail (NADA) value so my opinion is your not getting a great deal but not a bad one either but i think its worth it.

Q: Pardon my ignorance; what is an O2 sensor, and how much does it cost to replace it?
2005 Kia Spectra 2005 Kia Spectra. Yes, it's under warranty, but I live in a rural area and thought it might be more cost effective to have it repaired locally than drive to the nearest dealer.

A: The O2 sensor (oxygen sensor) is an emission/fuel management system component. It is used to measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust come out of the cylinders after it burns. The car’s computer uses it to finely adjust the fuel air mixture. There should be a very small about of oxygen left after the fuel has burned. Note: some cars have more that one of these sensors Your car has two-listed one pre-catalytic converter and one post-catalytic converter. I did not have time to shop around but at one website they were priced 139.90$ and 59.90 respectively. I did not check net the labor rate time (flat rate hours) and I do not know the current labor price (dollar per hour) in your area. The year of you car is 2005 it might be cover under warranty check with your dealer or manufacturer representative. There must be some reason why it failed and that have to be fix before you replace the sensor. If you don’t it will fail again very soon. The car is kind of new to have this sensor fail. It is not uncommon to have cars with 200,000 mile on them and still have the original sensor. I know the last two cars I had still had the originals still in them. I am sorry, but I have nothing good to say about KIA's cars to most of us that work on cars it means Killed in Action

Q: Which car is better on insurance?
A 2004 Mazda3, or a 2005 Kia Spectra?

A: You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here - autoinsurance.maclenet.com

Q: Question about an automatic shifter on a car??
I have a 2005 Kia Spectra that only has 27,000 miles on it (I'm the original owner). Car runs perfect, but starting 2 weeks ago my automatic shifter has been "sticking". It is very hard to put it into Park from Drive...I literally have to sit there and wiggle it and finally just jam it forward, and when I do that it makes a weird cracking sound from underneath it...I don't know if I dropped a coin in it somehow or what, but I've always taken care of my car and kept it clean. Any ideas on what is going on, and if this should be covered under the warranty (the dealership won't tell me until I take it in and get it fully diagnosed...it's over an hour away!!) ? BTW, my boyfriend mentioned that it probably just needs to be greased...but I want some more advice as well before I get all stressed about it. Thanks for your time! Ok...thank you, good point, but I've been driving for nearly 10 years...I DO have the brake down anytime I need to use the shifter, so I know that's not the problem.

A: Your shifter lever cable is probably binding.
