Q: Thinking about buying a 2003 Kia Sorento EX ?
Today we found a 2003 Kia Sorento EX for sale. It looks awesome and fits what we were looking for - a 4x4, 4-door SUV. We're not too concerned about fuel economy because we own a car that gets 35MPG, plus fuel prices went down. There are a few downers about it, such as it has a small crack in the bottom of the windshield on the driver's side (will it pass inspection next year?), has 109k miles, and the paint seems to be wearing a little on the one spot.
KBB says it's worth $6,400 in good condition or $5,700 in fair. The price is $4,800, but will come to $5,200 after taxes, tags, and all that notary stuff.
Has anyone owned this SUV or have any advice? Our other car is a KIA, so we don't wanna hear about how Kia sucks, because we disagree. Thanks.
A: Because other previous KIA owners were not happy, I'd say no.
I'd get a used tahoe or suburban. They're really tough, and have lots of power.
Q: Any advice about buying a 2003 Kia Sorento?
A: Put AAA on speed dial, or be prepared to walk...
Q: Kia Sorento repair question?
2003 Kia Sorent0 - just had 3 belts replaced & now my car is sqealing when you go from standstill to out of first gear. It only seems to happen on standstill to first gear & is worse on left turns not right. The car went back to the dealer who checked the belts, and they said they adjusted them, but it still squeals.
A: sounds like it could be a bad belt tensioner,
could be power steering pump going out maybe, since it squeals worse when making a turn,
could be something loose in one of the adjusters or brackets somewhere,
they may have the belts too tight or too loose,
these are just possibilities..hard to know for sure without seeing for myself
Q: Where is the best place to look for an overflow coolant jug? The dealership wants to charge $230 to fix it.?
I need it for a 2003 Kia Sorento. It's a SUV. It has a crack in the coolant jug.
This car has been nothing but trouble since my aunt got it. She should have kept her Blazer.
A: You could go to the Kia parts department and get their parts price. You could get one from a junk yard.

Q: what is the Lemon Law in Texas?
I bought a used 2003 kia sorento and I didn't realize it had so many problems until I got it home and my husband looked at it. The sales guy knew i didn't know anything about cars and promised me that it was in good shape. He knew that I needed a good vehicle for me and my children while my husband is deployed and now I am screwed!! It has no warranty what can I do??? Please help!
Don't blame the dealer?? Well if he wasn't such a deceiving liar I wouldn't have bought it. Besides you don't know the situation I was put in so mind your business if you don't know what your talking about!!
A: Unfortunately, Texas does not have any Used Car Lemon Laws. There isn't much you can do except try to find either a different vehicle, or a mechanic who can fix your Sorento. Good luck and I hope you can get your problem resolved.
Q: WHO KNOW A LOT ABOUT CARS PLEASE HELP?
Ok i got 1 alpine type x 10" with a 1208d hifonics in a 2003 kia sorento V6 engine now all of it works great and sounds fine but can the alternator and battery support that power for much longer (is there any option besides getting a new alternator and battery) Would a capacitor alone fix it if not what can i do
Thanks
A: A capacitor is only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing else. If the current isn't there, a cap won't help. The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.
so therefor, a capacitor will only be a waste of money for you, considering it wont help you at all
your car should be fine, you shouldnt need to upgrade battery or alternator unless your running over 1200 rms watts through your cars electircal system
if you wanna take it safer upgrade the big 3.. e-mail me if you want more info on how to do so
but you shouldnt need to either, your system will be fine off what it is now
Q: Kia Sorento.. keeps cutting out??
The car is a 4x4 2.5 turbo diesel year 2003 milage 50K
Its start OK...runs OK....then out of the blue engine starts to fade (loses power)..Loud drone...engine does not totally cut out, but cannot get any revs. Turn off the ignition ...immediately restarts..runs OK again...for 10 miles or 20 Miles...no exact pattern., then it happens again..I am guessing fuel pump, injector or ???? has anybody got any ideas or KIA owners...have you had this problem, what was the solution?? ... Thanks
The dealership took a look and thought it might be the turbo?...tried a couple of ideas (simulated the curcumstances when it cut out etc)....no problem. Any other ideas?
A: seems as though you should have bought a proper car lol
Q: SOMEBODY WHO KNOWS A LOT AOUBT TYPE X AND CARS?

try upgrading the "big three"
then if you still have problems, your going to need to upgrade to a high output alternator and a yellow top optima battery.
try to upgrade the big 3 before, it should help out a lot, if not then you will have to upgrade to battery and alt.
heres a link to the big three:

Q: WHO KNOWS ABOUT CARS AND ALPINE TYPE X?
Ok how much amerage or power do you need in a alternator or battery to power 1 alpine type x 10" sub with a 1208d hifonics amp would a 2003 kia sorento v6 engine power it fine (but please state how much amperage you need)
Thanks
Its wired at 2 ohms
can it power it without the big 3 upgrade
A: Depending on how you wire up the sub (4 or 2 ohm), you can expect around a 30-40 amp draw.
You shouldn't worry, though. As long as you perform the big 3 upgrade, use quality 4, 2, or 1/0 gauge power and ground wire to hook up the amp, and at least 12 gauge speaker wire to wire the sub to the amp, you will be absolutely fine. A stock alternator and stock battery will provide enough power. And please, for the sake of the sub, set your gains properly!

Q: Do Fuel Saving Modules Work?
I just bought a 2003 Kia Sorento. Great car, I practically stole it off the lot, but the mileage sucks. I was looking for accessories on EBay and saw something about a Fuel Saving Module that is guaranteed to save me 5 to 10 mpg by changing the fuel/air injection to a leaner ratio. Do these chips work? Is there a long term detriment to the engine or fuel injectors?
A: They most likely don't work. Even if they did, they would starve your engine and you would get sensor errors and the car will be a lot slower. There are some fuel additives that seem to work for me, like STP's Gas Treatment and Fuel System Cleaner. Don't expect a serious gain in fuel efficiency though.
I doubt there is something wrong with the car though, I think they get like 16/19 mpg (city/highway) or so.
Q: 4X4 question?
I have a 2003 Kia Sorento. Today I noticed that a light came on that said 4X4 low. What does that mean? Do I need to take it the the mechanic?
I never have owned a 4X4 before. I never used the 4X4 on the Kia. Its still on 2 w.d.
A: about.com says you have torc on demand so it automaticaly goes to 4x4 when you need it. if it stays on make sure yur knob is in 2x4h.
