Q: Interference or non interference engine for 2006 Kia Rio?
Tell me the bad news... I suspect it probably is an interference engine? I've seen it go both ways.

A: its an interference engine, and the bad news is it probably did get a few valves when it went out,i done one of those before though and sometimes it isn't as bad as it sounds,id replace the belt and see what the engine does before i tore it apart, you don't have nothing to loose but the time it takes to replace the belt, and you may get lucky and it not have did any damage to it,one out of 10 sometimes will escape damage, good luck.

Q: I have a 2006 kia rio?
When i was driving today my car started to act funny. It would hit about 3000 rpms then act like it was boging down. Then i would be doing 50 the posted speed limit and my car was at about 1100 rpms and the pedal would feel like you had to push it down really far to get the car to move. Then when it finally moved it would shake really hard back and forth like it was getting no gas and was reving itself to 5000 rpms befor shifting.I am no car guy i have no idea what this could be but i dont want to drive it until i know it is safe to take to a repair shop.

A: why did u buy Kia? they arent known for reliability.... lol first, when you said they were revving to 5000 before shifting: did you let your feet off the gas so it can shift? or did u have your feet on the gas the whole time? from what i can tell, it can be a bad fuel pump, or spark plugs... just hope its not the tranny. 06 sounds a little too early for any other break down. but then again, it a Kia... next time, go with jap car... im sure you can drive it. just keep the speed low, let your foot off the gas so it shifts early.

Q: Engine quits out at 2500 to 3000 rpms in kia rio?
Ill be driving and when i hit about 3000 or 2500 rpms the engine starts choking out and kinda jerking(the car) like its not getting fuel. could that be from dirty air or fuel filter? or both by the its a 2006 Kia Rio with 55,000 miles on it i just run 87 octane in it also if you have any ideas or anything i would greatly appreciate it. but no just saying is a Kia i dont care if you going to say that

A: DO NOT RUN YOU CAR ON 89-90 OCTANE FUEL. My parents rented the 4 door sedan Rio during a trip to chicago, this car as i remember uses regular gas. If you run it on 89-90 octane fuel, or premium, fuel injectors and spark plugs will break and your looking at a hefty bill. I believe your timing bell might be broken. This is very unlikely due to the low mialeage of the car but it might be the problem. It also might be fuel injectors might need to be replaced. But as the guy above said, buy a $10 bottle of fuel injector cleaner and see what happens. Just don't pour it with 89-90 octane fuel. This is highly discouraged and may void your warranty. All you have to do is pour the fuel injector cleaner into your gas tank.

Q: My windshield wipers are making a whining noise when they are on?
When there was ice and snow, they wouldn't work. The mechanic told me they were frozen, but they make a whining noise when they are on and it is so annoying. I don't know if it is a motor problem or if I need new wipers. This is a 2006 KIA RIO

A: I knew some people I used to work with make that noise,WOW!

Q: What are the chances of getting the car I want when I still owe $14,000 and need to trade that car in?
I have a Kia Rio, 2006, that I still owe on and want to upgrade to a 2006 or better VW Beetle Convertible. Is this possible?? I just do not know how this stuff works. Thanks to anyone out there that can help me.

A: It's all quite simple. You owe the bank $14,000 on the Kia Rio. You want to buy a new VW Bug convertible. In order to get out of the KIA you have to sell it. And in order to complete the sales transaction you must pay off the loan. So that means you either sell the Rio for at least $14,000 and pay off the loan or you must make up any difference between the amount of your payoff and the amount you sold the car for. So if you sell the Rio for $12000 you must come up with $2000 to pay off the loan in order to transfer ownership and the title to the buyer. The same thing is true of you choose to trade in your Rio at the VW dealer for the new Beetle. The dealer will make you an offer to "buy" your car. That is called the trade in value. If that trade in value is enough to pay off the loan then you're all set. If the trade in value is less than you owe then the difference is added to the price of the new car. Using the same example if the trade in value was only $12000 you would have to add $2000 to the price of the Beetle. The negotiations with the dealer will involve the trade in value, the down payment amount and the selling price of the car.

Q: Can my car pull a jet-ski?
I have a 2006 kia Rio and i was wondering if my car has enough power to be able to pull a jet-ski, and down the ramp into the water? I know it couldn't pull a boat, but a jet-ski isnt nearly as heavy

A: Check the cars owners manual and see what its towing capacity is. The ski is about 1000lbs or less, depending on what you have. Then see if you can get a hitch put on the car.

Q: Is my timing belt out, please help.?
I have a 2006 Kia Rio with 100,000 miles on it. My wife was driving and said itjust stopped running while going down the street. When I try to start the car it seems to just freely s pin, like there is no compression. Is this a timing belt issue?

A: I would take the timing cover bolts loose enough to see the belt, then turn the car over and see if it turns. from experience it sounds like a timing issue,

Q: Is a 2006 Chevy Cobalt reliable after 50,000 miles?
I'm looking to buy two cars. One is a 2007 Kia Rio with 38,000 miles. The other is a 2006 Chevy Cobalt with 45,000 miles. Is either car reliable? Are Chevrolets, in particular, reliable cars after 50,000 miles?

A: im gonna say the chevy is better then the kia

Q: Boat Ramp question?
I know my car can pull a jet ski (my car is a 2006 kia rio) but will i have trouble with the boat ramp? our lake ramps are pretty steep and i dont want my car going into the water. does my car have enough power to pull it out and put it in? my car weighs a mere 2k

A: It might, but just remember even if it pulls it up on a steep dry slope if you put in behind other boaters the ramp is going to be wet and you may not get enough traction to pull the weight of the car, trailer and jet ski back up. So the first time you try it, I would take a friend with another car or truck with a chain or rope just in case you need a little help pulling back out. Don't take any chances on the first time (take a friend preferably with a 4x4) that Rio should have tow hooks in the front just in case.

Q: Car Speakers?
Well first off im not very good with cars and i was wondering what is the best kind of speakers to get to make it loud, clear, and a lot of bass. And can my speakers in my car get much better i got a 2006 kia rio base model. Thanks for any help

A: There are several high end audio companies that are unknown to the world unless you have had experience with them beforehand. I will go ahead and make it easier for you and name these brands. They are the "best bang for the buck". Resonant Engineering, Elemental Designs, Image Dynamics, Focal, Rainbow Audio, Boston Acoustics, DLS, MB Quart, and many more. I would join a forum to find what is best suitable for your listening tastes. I'm a member of IcixSound.com, which is full of friendly people who are very knowledgeable about car audio. Check out http://www.woofersetc.com for some nice equipment. Try to stay away from brands like Sony, Legacy, Volfenhag, Jensen, Kole Audio...
