Q: Engine running rough - 2001 Kia Optima?
Can anyone help me understand what happened? I filled my gas tank (from 1/4 full) the other day but the pump didn't shut off when the tank was full, and ended up overflowing. Now my engine is running really rough. Could it be because the tank was overfilled? Or could there be water in the gas? I added a bottle of Gas Line antifreeze to try drying up the water, and ran the engine for a while and while idling, it seemed to smooth out. I took it out on the road today but it is still very rough on acceleration. Any help or insight you could give in your answer would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance. I just don't want to bring it to a mechanic if it is something I can correct here at home. Please keep in mind that I'm not automotive-savvy. Thank you.
A: Obviously the check engine light is on if it's running rough, I doubt the gas had anything to do with it, just a coincidence. I would take it to a reputable repair facility and have a professional diagnose the problem an give you an estimate.

I need to know the direct connections of a brake cylinder and the cv axle on my car if there are any at all, so I may have the mechanic repair it again, because I started having problems with the axles after having the cylinder repaired. 2001 kia optima
A: None whatsoever. I'm miss-understanding your question because you have brake calipers on your disc brakes and a master cylinder that bolts to your firewall. So what went wrong with the axles? The CV joints go bad occasionally but the axles rarely of ever go bad. Id be looking at your wheel bearings to see if a spline on the axle or inside the wheel bearing was broken.
I hate to say this: The joy of owning a cheap off-shore Korean car.

I had calipers replaced on my 2001 kia optima and since that I started hearing a ratttling noise from the back, especially when I slow down, and someone thinks that it may be axles problems or was sopmething broken like a spline, when they put on the calipers, if so I will have them repair it.

no the calipers have nothing to do with your cv joints . The calipers work your brake pads on the disc brakes. most likely what you hear is a sesnsor telling you your brake pads are worn . Have the mechanic that did the calipers or the dealership for kia look at it .

make sure you get the 6 cyl and if it has more than 100K miles on it, don't count on it lasting much longer without needing some major repairs.
unless it's dirt cheap, you can find cars with better reliability.
the new Optimas are great but anything before 04 is questionable.
the 100,000 mile warranty is only for the original buyer.

Q: I had my front and back brakes changed now they are VERY tight?
and the inside of the back drivers side tire where the brake hits gets VERY hot (the actual disk thing gets red) after driving about a mile and it starts to smoke and stink. Is this a bad caliber or is there some other kind of adjustments that could be done? 2001 Kia optima
I had them changed because they were making awful sqeaking sounds and they were all 4 down to the metal. My nephew changed them, he has had an auto repair class but is not that experienced.
A: i own a repair shop and who ever did your brakes really messed up big time they are going to have to re-do those for sure they got dirt in it or something,or even could have gotten the pads on wrong,i have seen this happen a few times but when they get red like this it just about ruins the rotor on a normal car,so take it back to them,they did something wrong, it sounds like the e-brake is sticking on it,but they was supposed to fix this right ,now they will have to, and it will cost them this time,but be sure and take it back,you cant drive it like this,it will get worse believe me,seen it happen a dozen times or more,good luck and be careful driving it,this can cause it to lock up,good luck.
